Round 3 will be a ladder format (same as Round 2) and a reminder of a couple of items below:

  1. If teams are tied after 8 ends, play a full extra end to decide the outcome of the game, with the exception of no end can start after 2 hours, 20 minutes (7:35 for the early draw, 10:20 for the late draw).  If the game is tied after 2 hour 20 minutes+, use the single rock draw to the button to determine win/loss.  This should be plenty of time, but wanted to have some time rule to prevent really long games.
  2. We will use the No-Tick Rule.  Curling Canada (and Ontario Curling Association) has adopted the World Curling Federation No-Tick rule. It will be up to the skips to agree if the rock is touching the centerline.   If that isn’t possible, ask someone on the next sheet to make the decision.
  3.

Please make sure that you report your games ASAP at the conclusion of your game, so that we can update the ladder for everyone, and have the next week set up as promptly as possible.

Good Luck and Good Curling! 🥌

Friendly reminder, please rever to the ladder format rules of the game below:

Nov 20, 2023

To clarify, for the remaining games for the first round, we are using draw to the button (or an extra end if both skips had agreed to this at the start of the game) to determine who wins/loses.

Having 20 teams to start the next round, we will move back to the ladder format.

A couple of other changes for this 2nd round include:

No Tick Rule:

If, prior to the delivery of the sixth stone of an end, a delivered stone causes either directly or indirectly, an opposition stone in the Free Guard Zone (FGZ) which is touching the centre line to be moved to an off-centre line position or to a position outside the FGZ, the non-offending team has the option to:

(i) Remove the delivered stone from play, and replace all stones that were displaced to their positions prior to the violation taking place; or

(ii) Leave all stones where they came to rest.

If the stone is moved from the centre line to an out-of-play position, then the FGZ rule applies.
